Karen Pence, wife of American Vice President, Mike Pence, on behalf of the American city of Houston, presented a commemorative gift to the city of Abu Dhabi, which is "a postcard and rare stamp" dating back to 1969, issued on the occasion of the moon landing, in appreciation of the cooperation and friendship which brought together Abu Dhabi and Houston.
The gift was received by Falah Mohammed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, during the exchange of gifts between the fraternal cities today at "The Founder’s Memorial" in Abu Dhabi. Al Ahbabi presented a commemorative gift of a model of a piece of the geometric shapes used in designing the artwork "Al Thuraya" (The Constellation,) which highlights the features of Sheikh Zayed.
Karen Pence said, "My visit and that of the delegation from the city of Houston to the memorial, is in celebration of the humanitarian values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his vision which established a solid base of friendship and constructive cooperation between his people and the peoples of the world on the one hand, and the UAE and the world’s countries on the other, which made him an international model of leadership."
She referred to the late Sheikh Zayed’s role in establishing the values of tolerance, coexistence, and harmony in the UAE community.
Al Ahbabi welcomed Pence and wished her a successful visit to the UAE while pointing to the ties of friendship between Abu Dhabi and Houston, and the desire of both parties to strengthen and develop them in different fields.
